About the Month Calculator

Adding months in calendar math is notoriously tricky because months have variable lengths (28 to 31 days). The Month Calculator handles month-end clamping cleanly: adding 1 month to January 31 lands safely on the last day of February, preventing unintended March roll-overs.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Choose mode: Add/Subtract Months or Calculate Month Difference.
  2. Input starting date and month quantity (or start and end dates).
  3. Inspect result with explicit explanation of month-end adjustments.

Calculation Method & Mathematical Formula

TargetMonth = (CurrentMonth + N) mod 12 with day clamped to min(CurrentDay, DaysInTargetMonth).

Worked Example

Scenario: Adding 1 Month to January 31, 2026:

  • Target Month: February 2026 (28 days).
  • Clamped Date: February 28, 2026.
  • Safety Note: Prevents rolling over to March 3rd.

Important Calendar Notes

Essential for monthly subscription billing schedules, loan amortization terms, and lease agreements.
